Replenishment Buyer at Family Dollar Stores

Accepted Offer – Interviewed in Matthews, NC (US) – Reviewed May 15, 2013 New

Interview Details The initial contact was a phone interview where the basic questions were asked (mostly behavioral). After moving to the next round, which was the in-person interview, I was given a "case study." The case study was a 1 page (front and back) quiz on inventory management. The questions were fairly basic (i.e. calculating profit or loss, gross margin, discouts, etc). The next step was 3 rounds of interviews, each with 2 or 3 people. They were all very similar yet each group had it's own questions. The questions mostly dealt with analytical/managerial experiences. I found the interviewers responded well to personal stories and experiences. I walked through my resume and fielded questions as I went along. I was able to ask questions in return. In all, it lasted about 2.5 hours.

It was a great experience.

Assistant Manager at Family Dollar Stores

No Offer – Interviewed in Bentonville, AR (US) Nov 2012 – Reviewed Apr 15, 2013

Interview Details I saw an ad online (later posted on the store window). I was hoping to get into FD and quickly work my way into a growing company and becoming a DM. But after months of trying to get any feedback at all, I gave up. The store positions are still open. Employees are very discouraged.

Interview Question – Never encountered that since I could never get an interview.   Answer Question

Sales Associate at Family Dollar Stores

Accepted Offer – Interviewed on Livonia, MI (US) Mar 2013 – Reviewed Mar 11, 2013

Interview Details Applied online. Had to take a questionnaire that was a bit lengthy. Got a call a few days later asking if I wanted to come in for an interview the next day. I did. Very basic interview, no trick questions. Will ask you why you left your lost job if you did quit, just say it was for personal reasons if you left it because it was a bad job. Asked me if I live close enough to make it to work on time without hassles. Took a drug test right there in the store with some instant drug testing thing. Offered a starting wage of 7.45/hr, accepted, and I will start working immediately after they get my background check results in. I got along well with my interviewer and am overall looking forward to my new job.

Interview Question – Why did you leave your last job?   View Answer

Negotiation Details – 7.45/hr, no negotiating the wage.
