Shamless, miser, cheap company

Onsite Coordinator (Former Employee)
Troy, MI (US)

I worked at Syntel full-time for more than a year

ProsPersonal growth - negative
perks - worst than a begger
company values - worthless values

ConsThis company asked me to pay for 69 extra days of leave mentioning I have utilized more than 65 days which was mine leave, while in my latest three paystubs, the leave was showing 120 days. How they have calculated they only knows. A third graded Indian consultancy firm claiming they are a reputed US company.
Cheapest of all policies are been kept, not to pay the employees.

Advice to Senior ManagementBharat Desai, should see the policies for the employees and for the company. Since he is checking the revenue, which is nothing but a profit cut from the employees benefits and reimbursements.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Worst Company Ever

Team Leader (Current Employee)
Pune (India)

I have been working at Syntel full-time for less than a year

ProsOnly good for freshers, consider they leave this organization almost after 1year. apart from that...!!!!

ConsFor me its worst experience ever, Management are not capable enough to manage their team as well as Project. No corporate values only politics. Less salary, Policies are not employee Friendly

Advice to Senior ManagementChange your company policies, and working environment. Its very unprofessional and depressing. No work culture, No work life balance at all

Meat grinder... but might be right for some

Business Analyst (Current Employee)

I have been working at Syntel full-time for less than a year

ProsGood pay. Opportunity to travel.

ConsAntiquated gender- and hierarchy-based culture. Poor interview process - designed to get seats filled quickly, but not with the right person just the first OK person. Non-existent communication. Double standards abound. 24 hour working is common (e.g., meeting request for 11pm). No training or personal development - HR will say they're looking in to it, but will never follow up. Lip service performance management process - prewritten 'goals'. Employees are encouraged to focus on looking good rather than on doing a good job.

Advice to Senior ManagementSupport and engage your employees. I've been with Syntel several months and have yet to even meet my manager... I've asked for information on client-specific training and have received no reply. Etc...

Encourage employee accountability.

Communicate openly - treat employees as professionals.

Not Good for IT

Software Engineer (Current Employee)
Pune (India)

I have been working at Syntel full-time for more than 3 years

ProsGood onsite opportunities,

Cons- Worst Transport facility , illiterate and quarrelsome bus, cab and management. Cabs n buses condition is worst.
- Below poor hikes.
- Regional nepotism and politics at its core, no professionalism in work.
- Employee are forced to do Manager's personnel work apart from assigned work .
- Talent won't stay for more than 1 or 2 years.
- Extra allowance, Awards n hike totally depends on Manager's will and mode and not on emp performance.
- Egoistic managers and careless towards employees below them.
- Overtime is there most of the time. People hardly leave on standard business hours.
- Regional language is mostly used.

Advice to Senior ManagementAt least provide literate and better transport system

Bad place for Female resources seeking career growth

Software Engineer (Former Employee)
Pune (India)

I worked at Syntel full-time for more than 3 years

ProsGood place for self-learning seasons.

ConsVery high chunces you may work smart round the year, meet expectations and more, make clients happy and yet not get what you deserve if you are FEMALE. Look at the male:female ratio at the Syntel onsite positions and roles above AP2/AP3 and you would agree 200% to what I say. Now, don't give me the crap that females are not good at handling onsite position roles. The shines of ego of old Syntel folks are so flashy and Dominant that all your existance appears tiny and is at stake dealing to them - be it professional or personal. Management is biased, always dancing to the rhythm of prevalent "Bias-technology" and not open to prefer or consider female resources for next higher level roles. Often even smart female resources end up being eye-candy to the employee pool with a bonus of poor growth curve and hence are compelled to leave the organisation if seeking career growth. I will always hate the biased growth of scanty people here and will never recommend any friend specially if FEMALE to join this organization.

Advice to Senior ManagementCome out of the Bias-technology if Syntel cares to value it's market positon and reputation.
