    Helped pay the bills

Sandwich Artist (Former Employee) Toronto, ON

ProsIt isn't particularly challenging, and when working with a good team, it can almost be enjoyable.

ConsI was given far too many evening shifts that I didn't want (until 3am). Only men closed the restaurant and they were always alone from about 8pm, which was always frustrating when the bars closed and we were rushed.
There was virtually no potential for growth or advancement, nor even the potential for a raise with demonstrated skill, speed, or experience.

Advice to Senior ManagementThe company needs to be more concerned about their employees. They get minimum wage, often bad hours, no benefits whatsoever.

    Views on working at Subway

Junior Manager (Current Employee) Mississauga, ON

ProsThe best reason to work here is you get to eat the fresh food. Subway is very generous with employee's meals and perks. It doesn't leave you with food smell you are done working

ConsSubways are mostly owner by people who are not great people to work with. Like they would not care about your side of the story if a customer gets angry. From my experience the treatment of employees by owners is terrible.

Advice to Senior ManagementI believe there should more opportunities of advancement. Employees are almost never aware of what is the level after becoming the manager of the store

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Not enough employees but allows you to gain experience (depends on the subway)

Subway Sandwich Artist (Current Employee) Vancouver, BC

    Pros- free 6inch sub
    - unlimited drinks
    - better resume due to handling all tasks (eg. cashier, restocking, washing containers, etc.)
    - multitasking & memorization (of subs)
    - being watched and getting a call if something is done poorly/wrong

    Cons- not enough employees
    - no real break
    - being watched and getting a call if something is done poorly/wrong

Advice to Senior ManagementWe employees try out best, but sometimes we make mistakes. It makes us more nervous if we are being watched on camera every minute and getting a phone call if we do something poorly. Please also have some document for us to sign so we know what we can do and what we can't. I think the management should be better....

Sandwich Artist (Former Employee) Gander, NL

ProsGreat staff, just like family, the customers are great. Most of the time :) Free 6" and drink..

ConsWork long hours on your feet. No breaks, and if you want to go further in the company.. their is no where to go.

Advice to Senior ManagementHave enough staff, so your employee's can actually take "law" breaks.. an 8 hr shift has 30min and 2 15min.

    Good to have some money

Crew Member (Current Employee) Montreal, QC

    ProsBetter than workin in McDonalds

ConsLot of work and not to much people to help you. Normally, every shift is handled by one person.

Advice to Senior ManagementYou're sacrificing customer service to save some pennies, think about that.
