I worked at Siemens full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Great attention to employee development. During my project management experience I did more than 100 hours of education on hard and soft skills as well as preparation for the PMP certification. Regular feedback from line manager about performance and personal growth potential.

    Cons

Huge procedural system sometimes gets in the way of agile business development.
Also salary negotiation is not an option even when personal performances are outstanding overall business unit performance affect your ability to negotiate salary. Bonus for non-sales related jobs are not attractive.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Increase portion of salary (bonus) related to performance. Above all increase autonomy of decision making of experienced professionals reducing the necessity of escalation to be faster in responding to market opportunities / customer requests / contingencies.

Salaries are not always at the top of the market

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work on Leadership Culture and Change Management
Headquarters should not always take the Regions for granted when it comes to knowledge and adding value to decisions

I worked at Siemens full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Great culture, high performance is rewarded. Adequate resources are provided, goals are challenging but reasonable. The business is in a sustainable environment with a good future outlook. Salary is decent, and bonus is achievable. They invest a lot in R&D to keep a good portfolio going into the future. Morale seems to be universally good across differing SBU's and the europeans (especially from Germany) have a good opinion of the US teams.

    Cons

often times there is little opportunity for advancement - not too many people want to leave so that makes for a lot of competition on open roles. They are an engineering company at heart so in order to really advance, it is easier if you are an engineer by degree. Sometimes you must take lateral positions in order to get the background of experience they want for more senior roles.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Put more emphasis on the importance of the marketing function. Sometimes it feels like the executive management team feels like marketing is a necessary evil rather than a value add.
