I have been working at NCH full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Good earning potential if you don't live in a declining area

    Cons

Horrible management, awful marketing, non-existent knowledge of trends
Company is doomed to fail. No interest in employee input. Disengaged account managers due to management. No hope in sight. Run!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get lost! Marketing should never run a company. Your eyes and ears are the people on the street not the incompetent marketing clowns sitting behind their desks.

I have been working at NCH full-time for less than a year

    Pros

If you can get in and deal with management then you might be ok.

    Cons

Leave applicants hanging for long periods of time then when they finally turn down applicants they say they are going with more qualified applicants but I have a friend in the company that says they usually fill from within or with cheaper applicants to save money.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you are going to turn down qualified applicants at least have the decency to be truthful and let them know you never intended to hire someone from the outside, you only posted the position because you had to in order to fill it with a pre-selected internal applicant. Sending out a standard email stating that you are going with more qualified applicants without even looking at the resume or qualifications is bad business.

I have been working at NCH full-time for less than a year

    Pros

They do sell good quality products

    Cons

Management and corporate structure is a joke. They promise the world and don't deliver on anything. They will not give you the pay that you were told or contracted to receive.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Kill yourself.

Unprofessional treatment of potential job candidates

    Current Employee - Anonymous Employee
    Current Employee - Anonymous Employee

I have been working at NCH

    Pros

Great way to polish up on phone interview and practice face to face interview

    Cons

Hear how you are treated like family, blah blah.. Do not have common courtesy to contact you or respond to status of interview. Met with 2 people that couldn t consistently answer questions regarding compensation.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do not leave people hanging in the wind. If you have chosen another candidate then at least send email. Ignoring is very unprofessional

I worked at NCH full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Laid back working atmosphere in the telephone sales department - certified labs, chemsearch, etc
No actual quota, just get some sales during the week and they leave you alone, get off early on Fridays alot.

    Cons

They give the good account to the new people to fool them into thinking it is an easy job to make commissions, pay is so low you cannot survive, if you good in the sales dept they do not want to move you out of it.

    I worked at NCH full-time

    Pros

Nice lower level coworkers that deserve better.

    Cons

Micromanagement, finger pointing by management, you'll need therapy working here, no training at all, nightmares every night you fear that you didn't get work done or if you got too much done, your work will be deleted (back it up on USB please...), unreasonable 12 hour a day work demands at one office 7 days a week, harassment that won't be resolved by HR, many liars who will make you look bad behind your back, political environment, dysfunctional, and low pay.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get rid of people who are hurting your corporate culture, people can learn what they know easily so don't use that as an excuse. I miss my coworkers and even my job, but until the people that hurt the company are gone I'll just take myself elsewhere. Thank you for the opportunity.

    I worked at NCH full-time

    Pros

They only fire people some times and only if they're unpopular enough with the right clique, so if you can stomach the place you can stay forever.

    Cons

So bad that I'm actually afraid to write anything here. All I will say is I worked there for many years longer than I should have. This place is so hostile you will need therapy to get through your days until you can land another job, particularly if your skin is the wrong color or you are different in ANY way.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Sooner or later you'll just be left with people who really can't work anywhere else.

I have been working at NCH full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

The company is persistent. Old fashioned. Located next to Las Colinas. Steady work. Thrifty enough to rarely need to layoff.

    Cons

Cheap, Top Heavy in Management, Abuse of employees goes overlooked by HR, infrastructure is pitiful. Raises and salaries remain stagnant. Development of staff is non existence. Zero training on how to be Good Managers. People promoted through attrition rather than skill.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Appreciate the staff by embracing them as the company family. Develop and promote staff. be good stewards of the companies funds.

I have been working at NCH full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

NCH is a very well established company, been in business for 90 years. Started as a family owned business and still is. Has manufacturing and sales offices all over the world. Many employees have been with the company forever, the majority of the work force at the headquarters in Irving are over the age of forty.

    Cons

NCH refuses to update software and supply the tools needed in order to do your job effectively. The majority of the furniture in this building is over 50 years old. They can squeeze a penny so hard Licoln squeals. Every year at annual meeting for employees they annouce how well all of the divisions have done profit wise. Then when annual reviews and raises (less than 3 months later) come around, they proclaim they are unable to give you more than a minisucal amount. If you don't get the money you want coming in you will never get it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Only lie to your employees once either when you announce how well you are doing or when raises come around.
