Current Employee – been working at Molina Healthcare full-time for more than 3 years

ProsGreat Benefits and Decent Pay

ConsIncompetent management- many of them are under qualified and rule with intimidation and micro management. If you are a mediocre employee with no college and can kiss up to current management this is your paradise.
Upper Management encourages managers to be friends with their subordinates which allows for favoritism. Molina Healthcare proudly proclaims that they encourage friendships between managers and their direct reports.
HR- You tell them about a problem and they go behind your back to your manager and tattle tale on you. Evidently they have never heard about confidentiality.
No work life balance especially if you are "salaried" they expect you to work constantly 50-60 hours a week and give up your weekends too in order to meet their unrealistic ideals.
Upper Management- Some of these people are the bottom of the barrel quality but they wear the right clothes and drive the right car so they get the job.
I was told that this company was all about family......dysfunctional family!
Upper Management doesn't even try to keep good employees when asked Upper Management will deny this every time.

Advice to Senior ManagementIt’s not professional to encourage friendships between managers and their direct reports.
Nix the unrealistic expectations and micromanagement on your employees. Any self-respecting adult should not need a baby sitter.
Promote people who are hard workers and have experience and an education instead of some admin assistant that went out to happy hour with their manager/director and suddenly climbed the ladder. There are many well educated and experienced employees on staff but instead these people are "worked to death" and eventually leave to take a pay cut or no job at all.
HR- Keep things confidential and quit back stabbing employees who confide in you.

ProsLot's of training programs online that are free that will add to your skill set.

ConsDue to the large size of the organization it is difficult to accomplish your goals & deadlines as it can take awhile to get your questions answered or support from your supervisor.

Advice to Senior ManagementThere needs to be more mid to lead level positions so managers aren't "hung out to dry" waiting for direction on important projects from their suoervisor

ProsSalary and benefit package is decent
The people on my team are professionals

ConsMicro-Management
Senior Management does not share plans or vision with staff
Hiring and promotion decisions are not based on skills and ability but likability and favoritism
Many of the supervisors lack supervisory experience and are not given appropriate guidance from management
Business structure and culture based on control

Advice to Senior ManagementHire competent people and trust your staff. Micro-management only leads to inefficiencies and poor morale. Create an business structure and culture based off of synergy not control. .

ProsFlexibility. Work and Life balance. Ability to work from home.

ConsLack of Leadership Qualities in Senior and some Mid-Management. You need to know someone to get ahead. Individuals are not promoted based on merit, skill, or knowledge - it is all about who you know and if you are liked. There is a great lack of managerment skills in management. Communication is a big issue working for Molina.

Advice to Senior ManagementHire Managers who have experience. Promote individuals who actual have the skills. Don't slot individuals for positions without allowing others a real chance at an opportunity. They may surprise you. Give people a chance.

ProsGood salary package...Work life balance

ConsDumb Management that promotes people unfairly. Nothing is transparent. Management is fixated on some score card metrics rather than to really push the costs down. This place is swamped with Consultants....You really don't want to ruin your career here. There is no open door policy and if you complain you are in line of fire. Every manager and director is obsessed with expanding their kingdom rather than working for the good of the company....its all top down,...No bottom up initiatives

Advice to Senior ManagementBe transparent & fair. managers incentive systems should be tied to lowering the costs , doing more with less.
