Molina Michigan used to be a wonderful place to work, but certainly not anymore. My advice - STAY AWAY!

Clerical (Former Employee) Troy, MI (US)

ProsOffice location is good, benefits ok, work hours ok.

ConsWhere do I start - Leadership is not "Leadership". HR is useless. Management does not hold people accountable for their workload, bad attitudes, insobordination to manager/supervisor, constant cell phone usage w/loud dissruptive conversations. Department is losing dependable, long-term staff due to the lack of communication and what is being allowed to continue. The more non-productive, disrespectful, rude (to Providers/co-workers), non-team player you are - the better you are treated by Management. I do not understand why this is allowed. HR will do nothing, and they are allowed to continue creating a stressful work environment. Why is it allowed to come in (clock in) and go eat breakfast for 30 minutes, while others have to work. Complaints have been lodged with management, management is aware of these individuals - yet nothing has been, or will be done. I am not just speaking of recently, this has been evolving for some time. I would not recommend anyone to work there.

Advice to Senior ManagementHR needs to be responsible and become a "real" Human Resources Department". Management needs to act like they are Management, starting with the VP and on down to the Supervisors. Terminate those that need to be terminated, make the necessary changes, and reprimands needed to make Molina MI what it used to be. Management needs to listen to employees and respond, especially those that they know are hardworking team players. Get it together!

Do NOT Work For This Employer

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) Long Beach, CA (US)

ProsI worked for this employer in two locations: Washington and California. I can't say enough good things about the WASHINGTON locations. I felt valued and respected as a team member and I felt the management was really trying to better the culture of the company and respect their employees.

ConsHowever, the experience I had working for this company in CALIFORNIA was the exact opposite. The corporate culture was oppressive and inflexible. I was illegally fired when I was 7 months pregnant after over a year of being shifted around to various positions that were well below my skill level because the company couldn't get it together enough to finally start the position I was transferred to this location for. I was repeatedly treated like I was an inexperienced and low-level employee, despite having education and experience higher than many of the management staff. I feel that this company, in general, does NOT respect its employees and I would not at all suggest that anybody take a job here if you want to feel like you're a valued member of a team.

Good stated intentions, haven't figured out how to follow through

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Long Beach, CA (US)

ProsHelping the under-served with healthcare is a rewarding feeling.

ConsPoor compensation for long work hours. Lack of flexibility in middle/upper management, and lack of regard for work-life balance. Communication is lacking between management and employees.

Advice to Senior ManagementCommunication, please. Don't try to snow the employees, we realize that things are not going well. Trying to put a spin on it is coming off as disingenuous. Also, when you have a manager at a high level who has consistently shown that they cannot retain good employees - take note and do something about it. This company comes across to employees as a small-family owned company that hasn't figured out how to grow up.

Owners are clueless (and seem to be uncaring) about what's really happening within the workforce.

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) Long Beach, CA (US)

ProsFast growing, multi-state company; decent benefits. Good work location; close to the beach. Pretty good weather most of the year.

ConsExecutive and management "team" very disjointed; very political atmosphere. Cutthroats on the inside and very judgemental. The company has lost its soul and the very reason the founders started the business. Owners no longer care or are so out of touch with reality about their employees; continues to lose employees as quickly as they're trying to get them in.

Advice to Senior ManagementGet involved and get to know your worker bees. Get ALL the facts before placing final judgements. Hire competent people that are knowledgeable in their respective fields. Hiring people simply because you know them, especially in key management positions, is doing more harm then good; simply getting a bunch of "yes" men. Owners really needs to get to know which of their people in management are trustworthy.

    Molina Medicaid Positions

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsDepending on location, employees were pleasant to be around. There was a lot of community type activities being done in my location which made a person feel like a part of group.
Pay was okay. Benefits were expensive.

ConsMolina Medicaid management were dishonest with employees.

    Advice to Senior ManagementHONESTY.

Not Inspiring company to work as an employee

Desktop Support (Former Employee) Doral, FL (US)

    ProsGetting better in IT.
Adding new employees that will promote their niche.

ConsThe hiring of managers and staff personnel was terrible. The managers hired persons that have no clue what a laptop is or does. Employee's who worked their would be out the door at exactly 5PM.
Certain departments were way understaffed. Employees had to work nights and weekends just to get caught up on the amount of work that was coming into the office.

Advice to Senior ManagementHire, Hire, and Hire more employees.
Install a back-up generator for the building instead of using waver strips that do nothing for power surges.
Allow the DTS or now called FTS pesonnel to do there job. Allow them to upgrade or replace computers.

If you want to be treated like an adult, keep looking

Case Manager (Current Employee) Pomona, CA (US)

    ProsGood benefits. Compensation is OK.

ConsWork hours totally inflexible. You can not change your hours no matter if you take a half hour lunch or not. Period. And breaks are to be on schedule. Talking is highly discouraged. You will be reminded a thousand times of your "work hours". You can't listen to a radio, or even have your cell phone on your desk. Unless you're one of the favored ones. Then you can do what you like. Not enough or no providers to send members to. Referrals take forever. Members should not have to wait so long to get service. Which is why they don't choose Molina.

Advice to Senior ManagementYour line workers line your pockets. Treat them with a little more respect. They can manage their time. They don't need to be so regimented. They can turn a radio off when a call comes in. They probably have more education than most managers. They can manage the simple things. Give them something to tell them they do a good job. You just got rid of "Above the Branches". Which lets them know you seriously don't care. The work place in Pomona is awful. Try to do something to make this building at least a little better. When the air goes out in the summer and its over 90 degrees inside, they should be able to go home to work. Without your line workers, you have no company.

Dissatisfied, they don't care about their employees

Project Manager (Former Employee) Augusta, ME (US)

ProsOffer good benefits. Do offer training and promote from within. If you conform to 'their' way, you can go far.

ConsLeadership is ineffective. There is blatant discrimination throughout the company. The morale of Maine employees is at an all time low, rather than trying to improve it, they just ignore it. Good employees are leaving. HR representation is a joke. Molina does not care about its employees, their only focus is on money. They literally drove me out with a bully boss and created a hostile environment for everyone in my department.

Advice to Senior ManagementSpend more time listening to your employees and follow through with their complaints.
