ProsPeople are very bright and helpful, it has a very good team environment. The pay is good, not much to complain about.

ConsCant really think of any complaints about MS, I guess it's next to impossible to get to the top considering how many people work there.

Great place for research

Research Intern (Former Employee)
Cambridge, East of England, England (UK)

I worked at Microsoft as an intern for less than a year

ProsThe company culture was fun, coffee was great and you could talk and collaborate with numerous world-class researchers in machine learning, algorithms, networks, and so on. My boss was extremely knowledgeable and always open to new ideas. The pay was more than enough for me.

ConsCambridge is a rather small city and housing is expensive. Also, the jobs in research can potentially have less security as they are the first ones to go if the company is in trouble.

This internship was challenging, informative, and rewarding.

High School Intern (Former Employee)
Redmond, WA (US)

I worked at Microsoft as an intern

ProsThey give you a coding mentor who will help you when you're stuck on a problem.
They provide lots of opportunities to network with your higher ups.
They give out an Intern gift every year, usually one of their latest products (like the Surface Pro).
They increment your hourly wage each time you come back as an intern.

ConsYou're expected to do a lot of self learning as your mentor will likely be very busy with his/her own projects.
