    Pros

Excellent management. Works with the team, rather than solely delegating. Great pay for the position. Great customers.

    Pros

Easy-going guests and colleagues, and occasional free food and company events.

Theft within the employees, staff can be untrustworthy (housekeeping, maintenance or young front desk). They blatantly take your lunch items or steal from wallet if not kept securely in lockers.

I have been working at Marriott

    Pros

great benefits but most of all the staff is great to work with and of course it is a hospitality environment therefore you end up creating a very home away from home type environment with alot of the associates you work with. Marriott aswell offers great discounts on rooms and on food and beverage. They even offer free rooms at a certain point of time during the year and they also offer special rates for your friends and family. THe beds are very comfortable. The customer service is amazing.

    Cons

very big on corporate culture, senior management seem a little intimidating

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

maybe to be more honest and trusting of associates and spending more time with lower management and associates to get a better understanding of their qualities and strenghts.

I worked at Marriott full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

PTO, Benefits, and Room Rate Discounts are nice. The culture is centered on treating associates well so that they will in turn treat the guest well. There are numerous ways to grow your career if you are able to learn new skills and adapt to changes.

    Cons

The corporate work environment (HQ) does not always follow the same ideals as the hotel (Field) environment of treating associates well. By this I mean that the customer is not in view and the corporate structure can be disconnected from the business of hospitality. As with most companies post recession Marriott is trying to do more with less and many corporate workers are overwhelmed and can not keep pace with work demands.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Find better ways to appreciate associates for the great work they do rather than nit picking on work not accomplished based on unrealistic expectations.

    I worked at Marriott

    Pros

Great product in many segments, always trying to find new areas of growth and many of the people come from a hospitality background and are really nice people to work with that will remain friends for a long time.

    Cons

Bureaucracy affects the time it takes to get things done particluarly given the company's focus on reaching consensus. it is often like the federal government of the hotel industry.
