    -young energetic staff
    - excellent orientation and training
    - good brand standards
    - beautiful location

    - seasonal staff sometimes makes things difficult w experience levels
    - manage,ent can be somewhat lazy

    A union came in. The worst thing to happen to a company.

    Pros

    -Flexible Management
    -Great incentives and perks (Hotel discounts with Marriott and other companies, catered lunches, ect)
    -You get the sense that the company cares for you
    -Sales incentives and bonuses based on productivity
    -Soft selling (All inbound, no pressure)
    -Plenty of overtime opportunities (The provide time and a half pay even if you're below 44 hours, you just need to work outside your scheduled hours)
    -Lots of vacation time, sick time (Unpaid AND paid sick time after 90 day probation)

    Cons

    -Fast paced call centre environment
    -Can get really stressful
    -Customers can get angry at you for seemingly anything and everything (Though the company doesn't tolerate abuse from the customer, so that was a plus)
    -Average pay for the industry (Could be better)

    Open a reservation centre in Toronto

    Good Staff and Supervisors, work life balance is excellent. Great employee discounts

    Minimum wage, crap benefits, senior management does even know if you work there or not.

    Come out of your offices once and a while, and look up from your Backberries when you are out.

    I have been working at Marriott

    Pros

    great benefits but most of all the staff is great to work with and of course it is a hospitality environment therefore you end up creating a very home away from home type environment with alot of the associates you work with. Marriott aswell offers great discounts on rooms and on food and beverage. They even offer free rooms at a certain point of time during the year and they also offer special rates for your friends and family. THe beds are very comfortable. The customer service is amazing.

    very big on corporate culture, senior management seem a little intimidating

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    maybe to be more honest and trusting of associates and spending more time with lower management and associates to get a better understanding of their qualities and strenghts.

    Pros

    The people are great at Corporate Headquarters. They're passionate about what they do and have a bright outlook for the company. Case in point, many associates have been with the company for 10+ and even 20+ years.
    There are lots of things going on so you definitely won't get bored, but it's all mostly fun. Work-Life balance is great nonetheless.

    Cons

    Like many large companies, there's a lot of politics, red tape and silos going on. You need to know how to navigate all this in order to get things done and move up.
    Also, what used to be a company with awesome benefits has become your regular Fortune 500 company with average benefits. Nothing sub-par, just average.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Some groups at corporate function a lot like small eCommerce start-ups - they're passionate and get things done. Others feel more like 100-yr brick-and-mortar corporations where "this is how we've always done it so this is how we'll continue to do it". Shake these groups up a little bit and you'll see some amazing things happen.

    Depending on what department you work in and who your supervisior is makes the difference.

    Don't give someone a position only because they have a college degree. Make sure they have the experience and being able to encourage the team
