Good Internship

Series Development Intern (Former Employee)
Santa Monica, CA (US)

I worked at MTV Networks as an intern for less than a year

ProsVery prestigous name on your resume. The connections you make are valuable and easy to stay in touch and network. The people are really kind, for the most part, sometimes snooty. Really casual, laid back atmosphere. Senior management is really awesome!

ConsYou don't get to sit in on any meetings or do anything exciting. You restock the fridge and get bagels and food from the food trucks for people. A lot of assistants cry and secretly dislike each other. BUT you'll survive.

Advice to Senior ManagementTry to involve the interns more. Burning disks and getting food is fun, but so is learning.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Not as great as it seems. Don't be blinded by the name!

Design Intern (Former Employee)

I worked at MTV Networks as an intern

ProsAs a designer, fun projects.

ConsNo sense of company culture ro community, and no appreciation for its employees. You are a cog in the machine, alongside thousands of employees working to add "MTV" to their resume. Little appreciation ro recognition; you are a nobody. It is inexcusable for internships to be unpaid, at such a massive company.

Generally nice coworkers but little mobility

MTV Networks Intern (Current Employee)
New York, NY (US)

I have been working at MTV Networks as an intern for less than a year

ProsFun, hip and modern work place with a young demographic. Dress is casual and people seem interested in meeting others. Easy to be hired as an intern.

ConsLittle mobility within the company and limited benefits turn me off from this company. The atmosphere, while fun, can seem a bit unprofessional at times.

ConsHave to ask for work a lot.
Work isn't always important.

Great Internship at MTV.

Creative Music Integration Intern (Former Employee)
Santa Monica, CA (US)

I worked at MTV Networks as an intern for less than a year

ProsFun, young, energetic staff with a lot of good ideas. They don't take themselves too seriously, but do take their work very seriously. The work I did was not very "intern-y", and I was given responsibilities and trust in my capabilities.

ConsEasy to blend in because the company is so large, and you will be forgotten if you do not network and make sure people remember you.

Advice to Senior ManagementContinue to make interns feel valued and a useful part of the team.
