Great Learning Experience with Amazing People

Intern (Former Employee) Santa Monica, CA (US)

ProsFelt like I was an operable part of my department, never a dull day. Respected and thanked for every effort.

ConsLiterally none. Amazing learning opportunity with the right department and a great chance to glean the inner workings of such a commendable network.

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep doing what you're doing and the legacy will speak for itself!

Really positive experience, with opportunities to make meaningful contributions on a variety of projects

Intern (Former Employee) New York, NY (US)

ProsThere are many pros to interning with MTV Networks. Not only does it look great on a resume (who hasn't heard of MTV?), but it's also a great place to be if you're looking to gain meaningful real world experience. I was never asked to get anyone's coffee and only a few times was I asked to make copies.

ConsThe only real con I can think of is that it's in the middle of time square. Some may perceive this as a pro, but if you don't want to bump elbows with tons of tourists on your commute, then I would say it's a bit of a downside.

    Best internship I've ever held.

Production Intern (Former Employee) Santa Monica, CA (US)

ProsWorking in pre-production, production, and post. Cool opportunities for going on shoots.

ConsA bunch of downtime during the internship, but that's expected at an internship. They also inform you of this at intern orientation.

    Good Internship

Series Development Intern (Former Employee) Santa Monica, CA (US)

ProsVery prestigous name on your resume. The connections you make are valuable and easy to stay in touch and network. The people are really kind, for the most part, sometimes snooty. Really casual, laid back atmosphere. Senior management is really awesome!

ConsYou don't get to sit in on any meetings or do anything exciting. You restock the fridge and get bagels and food from the food trucks for people. A lot of assistants cry and secretly dislike each other. BUT you'll survive.

Advice to Senior ManagementTry to involve the interns more. Burning disks and getting food is fun, but so is learning.

I worked as a marketing intern and the experience was worthwhile!

Marketing Intern (Former Employee) New York, NY (US)

ProsYou are included in all meetings and get to interact will all levels of management. Great work culture! Not a typical uptight suit and tie corporation. Many employees, including top executives were very easy to talk to.

ConsI don't have any cons to mention.
