Company culture dwindling by the day

I have been working at Joie de Vivre

    Pros

    Best are the co-workers.

    Cons

Pay is too low to keep good staff, hence there is a lot of turnover and frustration; not fun in the long run.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Improve the company culture by more than just offering a food truck coming by once a month for lunch.... (As example).....Generally, the company culture which Has been at the core of JDVs success is not there anymore and nor are adequate wages so good employees take the next best offer and leave. There is no formal training and the JDV university seems to have ceased to exist except for introduction classes. The lack of all these 'minor' issues will mean that JDV become just another mediocre hotel chain, not a very strong model for success. Compare yourself to all the successful companies out there- they all build on a strong employees & a healthy corporate climate- JDV not anymore!

I have been working at Joie de Vivre full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

There is a passionate group of people that work very hard to make a difference in the industry. They are humble and caring. The company is growing, which means lots of career opportunities and growth. You can make an impact, be creative and have fun! There is open discussion and the CEO (Niki) and leadership team are very approachable and willing to listen.

    Cons

Growing quickly, so it can be challenging for the processes and internal procedures to keep up with that growth.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep up the good work! Try to continue to expand the benefits packages. Don't grow too fast. Protect the unique culture that you have been building for the past year.

    Pros

The people that Joie de Vivre attract as employees make the experience. They are always upbeat and management looks for ways to improve the experience for them

    Cons

As with most hotels there are a ton of seasonal positions, so turnover is extremely fast paced and makes it difficult to acquire full time positions
