    I have been working at Fluor full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    Having the ability to move between offices and business units and also job function (provided you have the skills needed)
    Being an EPC, ability to work on different major projects allows one the opportunity to learn quickly and advance career.
    Majority of senior management listen to their employees and genuinely care for them and their career path.
    Lots of interactive events and education programs available.
    Incredible amount of experience and knowledge available within the organization and shared between the 40+ offices using a knowledge share forum.
    There is always a drive by management for improvement within the Construction business line.
    Ethics in the workplace is highly valued.
    Time off with pay is very flexible and taking vacation or flex time is never an issue.

    Cons

    Salary is not industry leading or on the high end of the spectrum for EPCs, but there are a lot of factors such as great work environment, experienced peers and management which increases job satisfaction - something that you can't put a price on.

    While majority of facilities provided are nice, workstations in some places could use updating and a better layout is needed in some places (i.e. more offices) Occasionally there are managers / leads / directors sitting in cubicles.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Further invest not only in talent development, but also developing the company's ability to diverge into new markets and businesses. (via expanding overhead budget)
    Bonus structure should be implemented on a broader scale in order to stay competitive and attract talent - even if bonuses are minuscule to begin with.

    Pros

    Lots of work and guidence from senior managers. A lot of opportunitys to learn and grow. They are always trying to stretch you and see what you can do.

    Cons

    Very big company, it can be hard to meet people, especially in other diciplines. Must always impress the clients.

    I worked at Fluor as a contractor for less than a year

    Pros

    Decent pay, very approachable and friendly management team, decent level of transparency on most project-related info. Contractors enjoy full flexibility, minimal supervision.

    Cons

    Project-based work means very little stability in company, whether contract or perm. Fluctuating project deadlines and fractured start dates means even less reliability in terms of job stability.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Provide a more fluid transition from entering position to project completion, and allow for more lead time on contract termination. Most of this (cons included) is industry specific; less to do with the company itself, but it is what it is.

    Pros

    Senior engineers are great mentors. Fluor procedures are outstanding.

    Cons

    The only downside with Fluor is that compensation is based on number of years of experience, instead of performance. People doing an excellent job unfortunately gets paid the same as a guy who sleeps in meeting and does absolutely nothing.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Management needs to pay closer attention to what the staffs are doing. Compensation should be based on performance. Guys who sleep in meeting and does absolutely nothing at work should not be getting 8% raise!

    There is an incredible amount of freedom to work your specialty and contribute to teams that are focused on the customer's success.

    There are some sites where Fluor standards and values are not always conveyed effectively through local management.

    Consolidate and franchise every aspect of the Fluor experience t every site and help the teams develop and succeed. Never leave a site team without the proper supervision and leadership.

    I have been working at Fluor full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    I really like Fluor because they are so much better than my first overseas contracting company KBR. As of now we can take leave every 45 days; We get Paid Per Diems; We get Excellent Bonuses; Excellent Travel Reimbursement; Single Room Occupancy when traveling in and out of Dubai. Most important they are a US based company that hires us as US employees unlike KBR. Also, they have sound management practices- Most important is their REAL commitment to SAFETY.

    Cons

    I have no challenges with Fluor, they are administering a tough contract in a hostile/warzone environment. Unfortunately this contract will be ending and/or changing-that's the name of the contracting business.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Do change your commitment to key Principles and Values and Excellence. Thank you for the opportunity.
