Among the worst I've experienced

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
Toronto, ON

I have been working at Equifax

ProsLeader in their field. Good exposure to consumer information solutions.

ConsOutdated Ivory tower management style, substandard operational systems and processes. Poor communication between management and employees. Lack of professional development and career opportunities.

Advice to Senior ManagementOrganization needs to integrate all of its disparate groups from a cultural and operational perspective in order to gain efficiencies.

IXI, A division of Equifax – a growth company that is now a wind down

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
McLean, VA (US)

I have been working at Equifax full-time for more than 5 years

ProsStill a few dedicated employees that are struggling along and a steady paycheck

ConsBasically Equifax is cutting costs to increase profits without increasing sales at the detriment of long term growth. The IXI president is full of himself but is actually clueless about the business model. Most of the employees are currently looking to leave leading to a lot of attrition.

Advice to Senior ManagementUnless you are fine with a dying business either sell IXI or find new management

Hamster running in wheel. Office workers beware!

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

I worked at Equifax

ProsBenefits are good. A few of the workers were nice.

ConsMicromanaged. Felt like I was in prison. High stress and very little recognition for a job that requires 110% of your time and energy. No room for advancement unless you know someone in Upper Management. Terrible morale

Advice to Senior ManagementPay attention to what goes on in the lower departments - some of which are the backbone of the company Play 'undercover boss' in your company and see what you find. You'll have a new-found appreciation for us 'little people' and maybe you'll implement some policies to ensure these people don't feel so neglected and forgotten. They work very hard for very little reward.

Driving Technology for a Small Division of EFX headquartered in St. Louis

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at Equifax full-time for more than a year

ProsIt's a job and pays well. Lots of flexibility.

ConsSr. Management lacks transparency. Organizational changes don't get communicated at all. Merit/Talent/Capability not put into decisions for changes, rather who you know and if you blindly follow what Sr. Management asks you to do. Scant regard for new ideas/concepts. Outdated technology and no thought put to strategize & implement technology for the future.

Advice to Senior ManagementTalent evaluation is a joke. Give opportunities to individuals that can bring about change based on the talent of individuals, as opposed to playing favors to just long time lieutenants.

Find another job

Customer Service (Former Employee)
Fort Worth, TX (US)

I worked at Equifax full-time for less than a year

Prosnot the type of job you have to take home and continue working

ConsAttendance policy, cell phone policy, having to work like a slave

Advice to Senior ManagementDon't hire people and go around looking for reasons to fire them if you don't have the budget to keep them

Highly Disappointed. Looked at the reviews before taking the job, but I felt-I can handle it.WRONG!!! TRY IT IF YOU WANT

IT Operations (Former Employee)
Alpharetta, GA (US)

I worked at Equifax full-time for less than a year

ProsIt looked like everything is absolutely great including the pay until week 1. I was wrong, I should not have left my old job. There are no pros.

Cons1. Abundant discouragement
2. Poor Leadership
3. Too many "Deceiving" consultants
4. Too much work politics
5. Too much "Micro-Management"
6. VPs do not care about Individual contributors and are left to die in hands of Directors (Managers)
7. Your opinion doesnt matter. Only Contractor's and managers opinions matters
8. Lack of Friendly atmosphere
9. Too much stress / pressure on employees
10. I Love Indian food and India, but the people I worked with are rediculous and stupid. They lack the basic knowledge of English and they try to dominate with their 'this stuff is too cool to be true' ideas. Consultants are meant to help the full time employees, but in Equifax, the definition is vice versa.

Advice to Senior ManagementManagement knows everything, I guess this company is in deep trouble that they cannot come out of, atleast in next 10 years. I dont have any advice to management other than go for Chapter 11 to come out of this mess. If you look at the news, there are a lot of law suites on this company.

Equifax Did Everything They Promised inlcuding Laying me Off

Senior PC Technician (Former Employee)
Houston, TX (US)

I worked at Equifax full-time for less than a year

ProsGood Money, Bonus's, Latest Technology etc. Really Didn't Work for them long enough to form a good opinion. Equifax Bought CSC Credit Services out and Layed most of the CSC Employees off 6 Months Later. I am really not too happy with Equifax.

ConsStrict Environment. Micromanaged, etc. PC & Network Security is very Tight because Equifax is a Credit reporting Agency and handles consumers confidential information.

Advice to Senior ManagementDon't Lay off your Good Employees that work harder than anyone else in the company

Terrible, terrible place to work. Nothing good to say about this employer. Layoffs a plenty. Medical insurance expensive

Customer Care Representative (Former Employee)
Houston, TX (US)

I worked at Equifax full-time for less than a year

ProsThere is only one pro, you learn about credit reports. Terrible, terrible place to work. Nothing good to say about this employer. Layoffs a plenty. Medical insurance expensive

ConsMedical Insurance too high, no personal HR, you must submit a ticket. Verification of your employment for another job is murky. Not a good place.

Very political And not customer focused

Account Executive (Current Employee)
Brea, CA (US)

I have been working at Equifax full-time for more than 10 years

ProsBig company and overall good benefits...HR is draconian and to be avoided at all costs...poor leadership and token employee ism is evident

ConsCEO and senior management are bullies and needs a lesson in humility...worked there for 15 years and saw new crop of mgmt and "leaders" drive business into the ground...poor leadership. If they focused on true business and not busy-ness!

Advice to Senior ManagementLose the GE mentality...that is an outdated style that needs to be dropped.

Worst Place To Work

Verification Specialist (Current Employee)
West Des Moines, IA (US)

I have been working at Equifax as a contractor for less than a year

ProsPaid weekly on Friday. Meet a few nice people.

ConsAlways feel like you're being watched. Extremely high stress level. Poor training. Poor treatment of employees by team leads and other management. Prison like atmosphere. Too much drama considering they don't want any. Team leads play favorites with certain people. Unprofessional atmosphere. System is not kept up to date. Too many unrealistic expectations in regards to quality and production. Employees can barely say good morning to each other without being reprimanded. Extremely high turnover.

Advice to Senior ManagementYou need to realize your employees are human beings and not robots. You need to step up your training procedures and start treating people with more dignity and respect. You need to create a better work environment for your employees with more, better ongoing training and support. You need to start listening to your employees more and give them the benefit of the doubt instead of jumping the gun and kicking them out the door because you don't feel like listening to what they have to say. Team leads and management are abusive and get by with way too much. You expect certain things out of your employees. Your employees expect certain things out of you. Change your ways and do it soon.
