Current Employee – been working at E*TRADE Financial
Pros – There are lots of opportunites for growth at Etrade, and the management is great for helping their employees succeed. Promotions are based on performance, not tenure which I really like.
Cons – 401k does not match very much. Health insurance is okay but not the best. Company is not as big as others, so growth is slower than other places.
Advice to Senior Management – The management at Etrade is great and very helpful. If you are a good employee, they will help you succeed.

Current Employee – been working at E*TRADE Financial
Pros – The people are passionate, close knit, and have an immense sense of ownership. The immediate management listens well to the employees.
Cons – growth ads bureaucracy. This isn't a fault of the company per say but the reality of SOX. Also due to size, innovation has suffered.
Advice to Senior Management – Improve communication with the employee base. Take risks with development, not with revenue. shut up and listen to the middle and lower tiers.

Former Employee – worked at E*TRADE Financial
Pros – - Great teamwork within the group.
- Excellent manager who watches out for his employees.
- Interesting technology and projects.
- Great sense of pride in work.
- Great benefits and opportunity to grow your career.
- Rewards are available for those who work hard and earn it.
Cons – - The position is not your typical Security Engineering role. More like Security Tools. Not network heavy like most Security Engineering teams.
- Upper level management throws projects around or stalls/squashes projects randomly
- Lots of politics on larger "Charged" projects that lead to dead-ends or delay/partial implementation.
- No long term security vision from upper management. More plugging the gaps to cover.
- No backup engineer for your projects. That means there is no on-call schedule, you are on-call for your stuff always. *I mention this as a con because it's not the norm. I personally like this better than on-call schedules and instills a sense of "eating your own dog food"
- Management commonly give Production and development much higher priority than Security. Consistently feel like you there because they could not get rid of you (like life insurance. No one want's to pay it, but they do)
Advice to Senior Management – - Develop a long term plan for Security at E*TRADE.
- Place a higher emphasis on Security with projects and peers.
- Highlight the great benefits E*TRADE has. Many employees do not realize how good they are.

Current Employee – been working at E*TRADE Financial
Pros – The people at E*Trade are great, everyone is very professional yet easy to talk to and approachable. Managers have a very good relationship with employees. Employee appreciation is demonstrated often, and there are programs and events that demonstrate upper management is committed to a good work/life balance.
Cons – Downsides include internal communication of company direction and intiatives, and odd shift hours for some employees.
Advice to Senior Management – Etrade is headed in the right direction, keep up the good work! Overall a great place to be

Former Employee – worked at E*TRADE Financial
Pros – Encourage growth and creativity. The work environment and culture is relaxed, professional and encouraging. I havent encountered a single instance where I was worried or apprehensive. I could find support in my colleagues and also my manager.
Cons – One thing I noticed at the at the particular office I worked was "too much flexibility" in timing. Some folks too the word "flexibility" literally.
Advice to Senior Management – I would recommend to encourage more. Ask if the employee wants to do more than whats assigned. Be it new certification or training.
