    Pros

    Clear Channel's challenge to break through digital makes it an exiting and fast paced place to work. But with excitement and a fast pace comes high turnover.

    Cons

    Good environment but pay increases / bonuses are dinosaurs. No raises for a number of years to even match the current inflation rate.

    If you want to go into radio and music then, it doesn't get any better than this.
    -Met cool musicians
    - Very laid back office. Lots of fun and lots of laughs
    - Heard new music before the public

    I worked at Clear Channel as an intern for less than a year

    Pros

    The environment felt extremely welcoming and mostly everyone treated the interns with a great deal of respect. You get to meet a lot of cool bands and artists, and the overall work environment is pretty laid back and chill.

    Cons

    For a lot of the time, it felt as though the interns were not given specific duties and tasks on exactly what to do. We spent a lot of time on the internet or on our phones just waiting for someone to ask us to do something.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Treat the interns as though they are getting paid and not just school credit. Plan ahead and make weekly calendars with specific tasks for us so we don't have to continue asking what needs to be done. It is awkward and we are extremely intimidated since we do not officially work here. Take initiatives to make interns feel more comfortable.

    Pros

    You get to travel and attend cool events such as concerts and festivals. My supervisors were friendly and treated their interns well.

    Cons

    Clear Channel is a reputable company but their internship program is a joke. Interns are only offered college credit and don't learn much. The majority of my internship was spent setting up sound equipment and taking photos. I learned absolutely nothing. This internship was also very time consuming and there's no set schedule.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Internship program needs work. Interns need to be empowered and taught skills for future use.

    Loved the job itself and my clients.

    Cons

    Very unstable income. Changes in management and staff constantly. Change in commission structure constantly. Very unstable place to work.

    Look at individuals and what they bring to the company. The bottom dollar isn't always what makes a successful company.

    Pros

    Great radio stations with targeted audiences for the advertisers.

    Cons

    No consistency in income or growth potential. High turnover rate with entire staff. ROI for clients is diminishing at a record pace. Radio no longer has the response advertisers are demanding.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    No incentive to generate new business for existing account executives. When AE's leave, management houses their accounts so there is no reward for loyalty or new business.

    Fun, flexible, challenging, every day is different, tons of solutions for clients.

    Cons

    corporate america. heavy management. lack of recognition, lack of advance in pay. They want you to "run your own business" but you can't do anything without getting 5 managers involved, making it IMPOSSIBLE to feel empowered and make executive calls for whats best for your client.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Consider rewarding your account executives more. Consider rewarding account executives that develop DIRECT business that is LOCKED IN ANNUALLY. Stop giving senior reps or your favorite reps all of the transactional agency business that helps pay their mortgage. The reps that develop new direct relationships are the ones working their butts off. It starts with a cold call, develops into a relationship and makes CCME the money.

    Fun job and great perks. It's fun working in media at times. If you are creative, this can be a great opportunity.

    Cons

    Radio sales have dwindled. This is truly hard work. Your writing skills, oral speaking skills, presentation ability, and business savvy must be stellar.

    Look out for the little people that come in killing it in regards to allowing them to handle accounts for their stations.
