Good work, good support, good times.

Poker Dealer (Current Employee) Kansas City, MO (US)

ProsThe hours are flexible for the part time dealers. As one would expect, the full time work has to pull their weight and do most of the hours on the casino floor. The Dual rates and Supervisors all do what they can to support the dealing staff and they defend their dealers when a patron is out of line.

ConsI am a part time dealer, as such I do not see all of the challenges that may or may not be present within a company of this size. I do my best to keep my nose clean and not allow myself to get roped into the politics. I do not have any challenges that have not been over come while I have been employed with Ameristar.

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep doing what you do. It does not bother me that I do not see you day in and day out. You have "Upper" management things to take care of and that time is more important to me that coming out of your office to visit the casino floor and let the dealers and support crew know you exist.

    Impersonal

Chauffeur/Valet (Former Employee) Kansas City, MO (US)

ProsA lot of benefits that really make you feel like the company cares about its employees. Pay was ample - we had 'group toke' so all tips were shared within the transportation staff. New people work the busy shifts and the veterans work 9-5 everyday with great hours and much less work than new staff.

ConsVery impersonal due to a massive HR intrusion into work. Odd hours guaranteed. I would often work a shift 6p-4a and another one at 8 the next morning.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

    Like family

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsFor the most part everyone is pretty relaxed and easy to work with.

ConsWork there long enough and politics comes into play. People tend to stay in the best positions for a long time.

Advice to Senior ManagementRotational development. You see this a lot in F&B, I think this brings the team closer together and gives employees an opportunity to advance their skill sets and experience.

Great company that really tries to show appreciation of all Team Members.

Casino Services Supervisor (Former Employee) Black Hawk, CO (US)

ProsExtremely guest service oriented. Generous cash bonuses for Team Member/Leader of the Year, based on performance and guest service. Nurtures positive atmosphere from Team Members. Team Member dining room available daily with payroll deduction; never have to worry about not having a meal for your shift. Great opportunities to move up. They are very open to moving people into different departments.

ConsI lived in Denver and worked in Black Hawk. The commute was very wearing. Once you get to salary, they ride you like cattle. Expect to work far more hours and make less hourly than your staff.

Advice to Senior ManagementPay your middle and upper management their worth.

Exciting job, lots of interesting people both internally and externally but...I could never support my family alone.

Valet (Former Employee) Saint Charles, MO (US)

ProsLots of fun. Like I said it was an exciting and fast paced environment to work in. Met many people I would never have had the chance to working as a limo driver.

ConsI worked there almost 7 years and even won a team member of the year award but I could never get into a position that provided enough for me to support my small family of 4.

Advice to Senior ManagementTake the time to consider your existing human capital so they have a chance to advance to a career instead of a pyramid of mid grade managers
