A company that offers 2 weeks holiday to every hire regardless of experience.

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Ottawa, ON

ProsThe compensation and bonus plan are well funded, and employees are taken care of well on a daily basis with a refreshment program that provides food and beverages. Contribution matching on RRSPs is a good thing, and also well funded.

Because other provinces have more holidays given for various observances in Ontario we get two floater holidays.

ConsSince we were purchased by Amdocs our benefits plan is terrible, and we don't even have an option to top it up. There is no employee stock purchase plan.

The company offers any new employee, even for filling senior positions, two weeks holidays, this is just absurd and means that new employees are often of very low calibre.

Advice to Senior ManagementOffer more than 2 weeks and you may attract better talent, cut the red tape and bureaucracy, for such a far reaching company with so many physical sites there needs to be a much more decentralized set of processes.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Miss the place , but not the work....

Senior Subject Matter Expert (Former Employee) Montreal, QC

ProsExcellent for those who gets an opportunity at a very early stage of their career (within 2-3 yrs of college passout).
Gets to learn a lot of things technically and also professionally.
Interactions with teams across the North American continent adding to your knowledge base.
Good to work for 4-5 yrs..
If you don't care about your career and just want to earn money, then this place is for you.

Cons- No respect or acknowledgement for the good work contributed. Only appreciated when you leave the company.
    - Bad management.
    - Almost no salary increments.
    - Learning curve reduces as you work more and more. You continue to fix the same issues every month, every release , every year.
    - You continue to grow physically and mentally ...but never professionally as the growth opportunity is ZERO (Most of the existing programmers are close to 10 yrs in the same position and are close to 40).
    - No Promotions. Any vacancies are filled by hiring from outside.
    - You reach a saturation point where you don't know what you are really good at in a global scenario.
    - By continuing to work this way, you will reach a stage where you are not qualified to be a manager (since the only thing you will learn is how to fix the issues) and continue to be a programmer at 35.
    - You can never compete with anyone outside Amdocs, because you don't know anything else.

Advice to Senior ManagementListen to the needs of your developers.
Give them an opportunity to grow

Not a place I would recommend

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) Montreal, QC

ProsMoney is the only reason to work for Amdocs

    ConsLong work hours,
    disrespectful managers,
    outdated technologies and software
    no opportunity to grow
    military approach

Advice to Senior ManagementShow a little care for your employees, not only once a year, when you distribute hot dogs
    Use advanced technologies

IF have other choices, do not come to Amdocs.

Senior SME (Current Employee) Montreal, QC

ProsGood compensation (for some) if you are lucky (belong to the right group).
    Good to have on CV.

ConsNot creative environment. Incompetent management. Top-down micromanagement. Not fair promotions.

Advice to Senior ManagementYour employees are often very smart (and initally very motivated). Do not kill the talent; step away when you know you have nothing to contribute.

More like a Staff Augmentation company rather than a consultancy

    Senior SME (Current Employee)

ProsThe compensation is comparable and you'll really stand out if you do your job because most people don't.

ConsManagement does not appreciate your work and will make you stay up all night to to do a "really important" task. Amdocs gives you a good idea of what NOT to do on a project. There are a few good managers that will really help you with your career but most do not care at all so at the end of the day, it doesn't matter.

Advice to Senior ManagementTreat your employees with respect and judge their work based on what they've done and not how much time they spent doing it. Get to know your employees and understand their interests and skill set so they will be utilized to their full potential.

    Don't work here

Director (Current Employee) Lake Saint Louis, MO (US)

ProsPay on time, don't micro-manage, supportive lower level management. Great team building events

ConsDon't keep promises. Will exploit your creativity. Politics

Advice to Senior ManagementGet a view of the world from the ground up, not from lofty towers down.

    Lots of promises, poor delivery

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) London, England (UK)

ProsPay and benefits are good, although pay rises are small. I was in a company acquired by Amdocs and existing perks were honoured.
Office environment good, with weekly fruit and delivery of snacks and small food items for staff.
Amdocs seem keen to adopt new technologies, so potential chances to expand skills and learn new things.
Amdocs offers training and online resources for learning

ConsAmdocs is a massive 22000 person bureaucratic monster. Initial promises of training and career progression ended in nothing. Expect endless email invitations to pointless town hall meetings. For an IT company with a large IT dept and a dedicated dept handling mergers and acquisitions, the integration of our company into theirs was a mess, and this was not a unique experience as I heard of other companies that had also suffered poor experiences. In one case, they bought a company without realising the company had their own software platform. Their IT systems are a mess. Our IT manager was moved into pre-sales and an expensive contractor hired to do the exact same job. They are overly paranoid about security but then make mistakes like linking staff to the wrong personnel systems in their records, exposing personal information. Management and control of resources, servers, etc is very Israel-centric.

Advice to Senior ManagementFollow through on promises of career development and training. Put more trust in external managers. Sort out the IT department. Stop spamming staff with pointless emails.

    Not very good work

Senior Software Tester (Current Employee) Gurgaon, Haryana (India)

ProsFood and transport facilities are good.

    ConsBad quality of work
Almost no growth options for people working in Testing domain
Salary hike is very very bad as compared to other companies
    Weak HR
Management only comes into picture during salary hikes. Rest of the year they are in dormant state

    OK

SSME (Current Employee) Gurgaon, Haryana (India)

Pros1. You get good food at various times of the day.
    2. Your GLs are not technically involved, so you can fool them anytime.

Cons1. Your GL is just a manager who keeps on bugging you on the progress of the project. He doesnt help you technically at all.
    2. The company is just for the persons who can butter and have stayed in the company for a long period.
    3. No team hierarchy, persons with 1 year experience can be seen doing work of 5-6 years experienced person.
    4. No transparency.
    5. No onsite opportunities atleast in service sector. They always say there is no budget and company is trying to move all the work offshore.

Advice to Senior Management1. Try look beyond people who have stayed long in the company. Promote people who are deserving.

Not a good place for women to work, very judgmental management

Development Expert (Current Employee) Gurgaon, Haryana (India)

    Pros1>Site trip
    2> good exposure
3> Its a pleasure working with israel team , you learn a lot

Cons1> You feel vulnerable to judgement as a woman, management doesn't take you seriously
2> Bad culture, 90% management is men and they work on loyalty gathering, you need to be in favor of managers to rise.
3>A lot of people try to steal credit from each other, you need to be very hard to survive here
4> During downsizing first people to be fired are women. At least in some teams.
5> Not Much scope for technically inclined people, this is a place for beurocrats and only people who rise are the non technical ones.

Advice to Senior ManagementTake a notice of deprecating culture in DVCI.
