I applied online and the process took 2+ weeks - interviewed at State Street in November 2013.

Interview Details Applied online, was contacted by a recruiter. They set up a phone interview. I was then invited to interview with 2 of the senior associates. They later gave me an offer. It was a pretty simple and to the point process. I think that having an employee referral is the easiest way to get hired.

Difficult Interview

I applied online and the process took 1 week - interviewed at State Street in April 2014.

Interview Details 2 Phone interviews. First interview was very relaxed with general questions about CV, knowledge of State Street, expected salary, holiday plans and location preferred. The call finished with the lady telling me that I had got to the next round which would be a more formal interview and gave me general guidelines on expected questions. Second interview was much more formal and to the point. Asked questions about how i dealt with mistakes at work and dealing with a difficult colleague. Interviewee said I would hear back either way within one week but as of yet nothing. Found the interviewee very abrupt.

Interview Question – How i dealt with making a mistake at work.   Answer Question

I applied online and the process took 3+ weeks - interviewed at State Street.

Interview Details Took about a month to finally set up an interview, had to interview with 3 individuals. First person I was suppose to meet with had something else to do so I met with the second interviewer first. Took 1 hour to basically waste time until the person that was suppose to interview me third showed up. It was all a little disorganized, and stressed me out a little bit.

Interview Question – You don't have any good qualifications like many other applicants I've had so why are you here?   View Answer

I applied through an employee referral and the process took 1 week - interviewed at State Street in September 2011.

Interview Details The interview was pretty standard. I was asked all the cliche' interview questions that some redundant middle management goon reads off a sheet. The had 15% turnover yearly when I was there so they basically have a revolving door for employees. Very easy to get a job there especially if you know a current employee. They actually have to give bonuses to employees to get them to refer friends.

Interview Question – Just google pointless interview questions and you will have a list of everything they ask.   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – There was none, employees are like livestock to this company.

I applied online and the process took 3 weeks - interviewed at State Street in December 2013.

Interview Details First interview is over the phone with human resources. The first interview last about 30 minutes and consisted mostly of behavioral questions. Most of the questions were stated as, "can you think of a time when..." The human resources interviewer was very nice and professional. If this interview goes well, candidates are invited on site for a second interview with two officers. The second interview consisted of more behavioral questions with the addition of questions about State Street Corp.

Interview Question – Can you think of a time when a breakdown in communication caused a problem? What was the error and how did you resolve this problem?   Answer Question

I applied online - interviewed at State Street in April 2014.

Interview Details I applied through the company website and six days later I get a call and there and then I have a phone interview, which was very basic as it included questions about my work experience and qualifications, but I was asked about the State Street and what they do, so be prepared for this, but I personally wasn't expected to know too much as I had no notice of the interview therefore no time to prepare, but overall call lasted only 30 minutes and interviewer that conducted the interview told me all about the interview process, i.e. what will happen in round 2 and 3 of the interview stages.
Later that day, I received an email alerting me that I was scheduled for second round interview the next day and the email also included a document detailing the job description, this interview was broken into 3 sections, (1) Work experience and Education (2) Technical Questions i.e. basic financial concepts (3) Behavioural Questions. You will be asked what you know about State Street again and it is important to know what they do as it shows you are interested in working for them. Once all the questions are asked you will be given the opportunity to voice as queries or questions, this call lasted one hour. I haven't heard anything back yet about the 3rd stage but I was told I would have to wait about 3 weeks.

Interview Question – Know your basic financial concepts, this is important, such as Net Asset Value, Funds, Derivatives, Bonds. Also when explaining the concepts use examples of each. Other questions included: What would you do if you were on a project and there was somebody that was being difficult? How do you ensure that you will complete your project before the deadline   Answer Question
