Geek Squad, Agent (CIA)
Greenville, SC (US)

I applied online and the process took a day - interviewed at Best Buy in July 2013.

Interview Details I filled out the application online and the main manager not the GM called me. Thats very ususual they'll call you and schedule an interview. Pick a time and day, They gave me two options and I took the soonest time. You wait in the employee break room for a few minutes and the main manager does the interview and There are several departments in Best Buy. Auto Tech is the people who install the car stereo and Lifestyle department is the people who help you find a video game and Then Theres mobile where they sell you a cell phone, Geek Squad is the Heighest paid entry level Job There $10/11 to $16/17 per hour, Those are PC technicians who fix and repair hardware related issues with your pc electronic you either bought or didnt buy at Best Buy. Whatever you applied for is what they will interview you for unless The Interviewer wants to bring it up what department to work in. I was looking for a smaller less hectic job this wasnt the place to apply I dont reccomed working here. To me Best Buy Mobile Stores at the Mall are the Best Jobs Best Buy offers

I applied online and the process took 1+ week - interviewed at Best Buy.

Interview Details Fairly general interview questions. Very friendly interviewers. It was a 2 interview process. The first one seemed more along the lines of informing you about the position to see if you still were interested. The second one had more questions along the lines of work ethics. Both interviews seemed laid back, but still had the important questions.

Interview Question – Unexpected: What are your views of customer or employee theft?   Answer Question

I applied in-person and the process took 2 weeks - interviewed at Best Buy.

Interview Details Meet with Geek Squad Manager and Store Manager. Interviews weren't substantial and they took me at my word on my experience. More focused on sales experience than technical. I had all the basis for an A+ cert but they were more happy that i'd worked as a sales rep elsewhere.

Interview Question – What experience in sales and computer repair do i have.   Answer Question

I applied online and the process took 1+ week - interviewed at Best Buy.

Interview Details Someone in HR initially called to ask about availability and if I still wanted then position, scheduled an interview for 2 days later. The manager was really disinterested and had half a pen in his mouth the whole time. He seemed bored and it immediately turned me off wanting to work for Best Buy.

I applied online and the process took 2 weeks - interviewed at Best Buy in October 2011.

Interview Details Hiring process is fairly simple. First will be with an HR rep. Second will be with a manager from your prospective department. Communication after application will really depend on how decent a manager your store has.

Interview Question – How would you deal with a difficult client? (Standard question for CSR's)   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – They negotiated with me because I had a four year college education and I started at what most agents of 2-3 years were making. If you are fresh with no exp you will be starting at whatever base is.

I applied online and the process took 4 weeks - interviewed at Best Buy in June 2013.

Interview Details After putting in my application I was contacted within 2 weeks by one of the employees to set up an interview. My initial interview was with the DCI (my current supervisor) of the store. He asked 3 basic questions (Tell me about yourself and why you want this position, Name a time you went above and beyond to help a client and what was the result, Tell me about a time that you had to deal with a frustrated/angry client and what was the result of it). The interview gets better when he gives me time to ask questions and I feel that is where they find out if you are right for the job due to the amount and type of questions you ask. After that in about another 2 weeks I was scheduled to interview with the general manager of the store. He asked me some basic business questions (what would you do if you saw an employee steal a quarter out of the register or a small product like a soda or something). After a few of those he offered me the job and then we talked pay. It felt like you could bargain it up a bit if you were willing to try. After that you take a drug test and finish the paper work then you start training.

Interview Question – Not so much the base questions, but the hardest would be is if you have any questions for them?   View Answer

Negotiation Details – I was able to talk my starting pay up a bit due to qualifications and the simple fact that I was assertive about it. Key is to be assertive, but not disrespectful.
